What a bathroom remodel costs in New Jersey

Most cost pages online give you one number and hide what it covers. Ours splits a bathroom remodel into two parts, so you can see exactly what you are paying for: our labor, which we price in writing after a free visit, and the materials, which you buy yourself at cost. Every range below is for our labor only.

Labor only. Every number on this page is for our labor. Materials are not included.

How we price a bathroom.

We charge for the work: demolition and disposal, prep, Schluter waterproofing, tile and fixture installation, and cleanup. We do not mark up materials, because you do not buy them from us. You buy the tile, vanity, fixtures, glass, Schluter membrane and drain, cement board, ALL-SET mortar and grout from a product list we give you, so you see every material cost and keep control of your budget.

These are the same ranges on our service pages and in our online price calculator. Your real number is one written price after the visit.

What moves the price inside a range.

  • Moving a drain, a toilet or a wall. This is what separates a $23,000 primary bath from a $40,000 one.
  • Size of the shower and how much tile goes on the walls and floor.
  • Curbless construction: the floor has to be recessed, which depends on the framing.
  • Niches, benches, glass and special details.
  • What we find behind the walls. Anything unexpected is priced in writing before we do it.

What is not in our price.

Materials (you buy them from the product list), permit fees, and anything found behind the walls once demolition starts. We do not promise permit timelines. Permit fees are separate and handled in writing.

Why labor-only pricing works.

Because the materials are yours, you can choose the tile and fixtures that fit your budget, shop sales, and see receipts. It also means our price does not move with tile prices. The written price you sign is for the work.

What you get for the labor.

  • Our own crews, not rotating subcontractors.
  • The Schluter waterproofing system in every shower, set with ALL-SET mortar.
  • A written 1-year warranty on our labor.
  • $1M liability insurance and EPA Lead-Safe Certified Firm status.
  • Weekly photo updates and a final walkthrough.

Questions about bathroom remodel cost.

How much does a bathroom remodel cost in NJ?
For our labor, from $6,500 for a tub-to-shower conversion to $23,000-$50,000+ for a primary bath. A hall bath full remodel is $12,000-$26,000. You buy the materials on top of that, so the total depends on the tile and fixtures you choose.
Why is your price labor only?
So you see what the work costs and what the materials cost, separately, with no markup on materials. You keep control of the budget.
What is not included in the price?
Materials, permit fees, and anything found behind the walls after demolition. The last two are priced in writing before any work starts.
What makes a price go up?
Moving plumbing or walls, a larger shower, a curbless floor that needs recessing, and extra details like benches and niches.
Do you give free estimates?
Yes. We do a free 30-minute in-home visit, measure, and give you one written labor price.
Is there a warranty?
Yes, a written 1-year warranty on our labor.
Who does the work?
Our own crews, on every job.
